About
An independent portfolio tracker, built in Australia
Compndr is operated by Alain Codino as a sole trader, ABN 97 259 119 147. It is a small independent project rather than a company with a sales team, and it is not a brokerage, an exchange or a financial adviser.
It exists because tracking a portfolio spread across a share account, an ETF holding and a couple of wallets is harder than it should be, and because the arithmetic behind a portfolio total is worth showing rather than hiding.
What Compndr is for
One place to see everything you hold — shares, ETFs and crypto — in a single reporting currency, with an honest account of how it got there. That means a running portfolio value, the contributions behind it, the return that separates the two, a history you can scroll back through, and a projection you drive with your own assumptions.
The How it works page walks through each of those in detail, including a worked example of why portfolio value and profit are different numbers.
The rule the whole thing is built on
If Compndr does not know something, it says so. It does not fill the gap.
Unknown is not zero. A holding with no cost basis is shown as having no cost basis. A holding with no available price is shown as unpriced rather than quietly valued at whatever was last seen. A chart that cannot be drawn for a period leaves the period out and discloses it instead of bridging the gap with a plausible-looking line. An exchange rate for a past date is looked up for that date, not approximated with today's.
This makes some screens less tidy than they could be. That is the trade we have chosen: a portfolio tool that lies neatly is worse than useless.
Where the numbers come from
Your holdings and transactions come from you — entered manually, imported from a file or screenshot, or read from a public wallet address you supply. Compndr has no connection to any broker or exchange account and cannot trade.
Market prices and exchange rates come from third-party market data providers, including CoinGecko for crypto pricing. They are refreshed periodically rather than streamed live, and Compndr shows how fresh the figures are. News used in the Daily Briefing comes from public financial news feeds, with the source named and linked.
Compndr uses AI in three places: the Daily Briefing narrative, the Ask Compndr question feature, and reading a holdings screenshot you upload during an import. The AI writes about figures Compndr has already worked out, and its output is checked afterwards to keep it descriptive rather than advisory. AI can still get things wrong — a screenshot in particular can be misread, which is why imported rows are shown to you for review before they are saved. Treat AI-written text as a description to check, not as a verified fact.
What Compndr deliberately will not do
- No buy, sell, hold, trim, switch or rebalance suggestions, and no ranking of one investment against another.
- No predictions of future prices or returns. Projection is arithmetic on assumptions you enter, never a forecast.
- No risk scores or portfolio health grades invented from data that cannot support them.
- No seed phrases, private keys, signatures or spending permissions. Wallet tracking is read-only: Compndr reads public addresses and cannot move, spend or approve anything.
- No selling your portfolio data, and no using it for advertising.
Your data
Your portfolio, transactions and goals are stored against your account, isolated per user and per portfolio, and are not sold, shared for marketing or used to target advertising. You can request an export or deletion by email.
Ask Compndr works differently. Your question and a factual summary of your portfolio are sent to an AI provider so it can be answered, as described in the Privacy Policy. The conversation itself is not stored on our servers — it stays in your browser until you leave or reload the page. What we keep is a usage record of each attempt: its status and the Seeds charged or refunded.
Product analytics are deliberately coarse: counts and status, not portfolio values, holding names, quantities, transactions, wallet addresses or anything you typed into Ask Compndr. The full detail, including retention periods, is in the Privacy Policy.
Compndr does not currently display advertising. If that ever changes, the Privacy Policy will be updated before it does, and Premium accounts will remain ad-free.
Limitations worth knowing before you rely on it
- Prices are periodic, not real-time, and are not suitable for trading decisions or for valuing anything at a precise moment.
- Coverage depends on the data providers. Thinly traded, very new or unusual assets may have no price, and Compndr will say so rather than estimate one.
- Compndr is not a tax tool. It does not calculate your tax position and its figures are not a substitute for records prepared for the ATO or advice from an accountant.
- Nothing in Compndr is financial product advice, and it does not take your objectives, financial situation or needs into account.
- Accuracy depends on what you put in. Missing transactions produce missing history — Compndr will not reconstruct them.
Premium
A Premium tier exists and adds depth to the same verified material — more detail in the Daily Briefing and Insights, additional planning scenarios, up to five portfolios, a monthly Seed allowance and no advertising.
Premium is not currently available for purchase. Where it is active on an account today, it has been granted complimentarily.
